This session will focus on two specific tools that will help you build a sustainable growth company:

Profit First: Have you built a business that you can’t control?

You can take and idea and bring it to life, and then quickly come to realize you have created a monster. A cash eating monster. We want to solve the problems instead of using debt to cover them up. Debt is for growth and opportunity. Profit First helps us to avoid using debt when we “accidentally” get tight on cash.

Labour Efficiency Ratio: The #1 driver of profitability is labour efficiency, which is a measure of the productivity of each dollar spent on labour.

Notice that I am not referring to total labour costs, as a percentage of revenue or gross margin, which is how labour costs are typically viewed. This measure does not tell if labour was productive and generated sufficient profit.

You can drive profitability by tracking labour efficiency, and by shifting your view of labour costs as something that you are leveraging to generate profits.

The Labour Efficiency Ratio measures the productivity of your labour force through time (trends, changes) and can be used to optimize your economic engine for maximum profitability.
